EU representatives have decided to clear the SOP Human Resources Development (HRD) and resume payments to Romania subsequent to the audit mission held from January 29 to February 1, 2013, the Government informs.
HRD payments were suspended last summer on account of irregularities identified in the prior award and projects implementation, Mediafax reports.
"Following the positive results subsequent to the audit mission performed by the European Commission, during January 29 to February 1, 2013, the EU representatives agreed to unlock the HRD Program and resume payments to Romania. Under this framework, the European Commission would resume payments to Romania over the next few days for the reimbursement claims submitted in December 2012, amounting to 148 million Euros, with the temporary financial corrections of 25% incurred , as agreed with the Romanian side " the Government press release reads.
Meanwhile, earlier this year, the European Commission auditors would perform two other verification missions for HRD Program, in order to lift the 25% temporary financial corrections imposed on expenditures that Romania would require the European Commission to reimburse.
