Remus Truică is an all parties favored billionaire who all these years has not been bothered by anyone from the justice department.
Also involved in this business is young man George Lişu. In papers he is an important real estate investor, because for a four hectares land in Snagov, he contracted a 3 million euros credit from the Romanian Development Bank, all part of a very fancy real estate project "fathered", by Remus Truică.
The businessman sold him the land and according to Lisu, he also arranged the loan, although the young man from Alexandria had no income and did not have any firm. Thus, no bank would have lent him 3 million. However, BRD did this after Truică had promised to help him.
Here's the track of the money: two million were transferred immediately into Remus Truică’s account, money representing the price of land. The third million euro gradually disappeared from the account, and George Lisu claimed that some amounts were withdrawn even when he was out of the country.
An internal investigation of BRD showed that Remus Truică used other six people close to him to contract credits and the money went to him. And in total the report, we obtained, showed that the bank was damaged with over 26 million euro by Truică Remus, by the same method: people recommended by Truică bought from him the overrated land with bank money and credits have not yet been returned.
The documents reveal the entire mechanism set in place by the businessman. One of the beneficiaries is Gheorghe Kiriţă, who got four hectares. The mayor who gave him the land, Musat Apostol, has been indicted for corruption by the DNA.
The land though is one tied by many legal issues. Officially it is owned by the Romanian Waters Administration. That has not prevented the mayor from being investigated by prosecutors for property alienation. The chestnuts are taken from the fire of the justice investigation by his successor.
The legal issues have not hindered Remus Truică’s plans. Two month after the restitution, the Truică family has taken over the 40.000 square meters paying 100.000 euros.
Miraculously, the land value has increased 20 times in just five months. Because on 26 April 2010, the same land was sold by Truică to George Lisu for 2 million euros. And had a lien instated on the same day by BRD for 3 million, 50% more.
Persuaded by Remus Truică’s entourage, George Lişu joined the game. Now the bank employees cannot believe how it all has happened.
Remus Truică seems to mind his business peacefully. He escaped before, inexplicably, from an investigation of the prosecutors. DIOCT is in the possession of the report by French experts, but refuses to give us information about the case. Specifically, they announced in a statement that the information was not public.
The ones damaged by the affair failed to get an explanation from the millionaire, they were stopped at the gate. We have not been able to get any comments from Remus Truică, despite having persisted on it.
The management of the damaged bank declined to comment, citing banking secrecy. During this time, people Truică made use of are bankrupt. A loss that increases every day and is accounted for by bailiffs employed by the bank.
