National Bank Governor Mugur Isarescu says Romania is ready to join the Eurozone.
He also argues that our economy is stable and strong enough to withstand any changes with the passage to the Euro.
"We managed to get through the recess years without resorting to use of public funds to strengthen the banking system. Banks in Romania are now solid, well capitalized and have the appropriate liquidity, which can strengthen confidence in our banking system," Isarescu said.
NBR chief said that under the new conditions in which Romania can no longer boost big capital flows in the years 2004-2008, the central bank is concerned with preparing the Romanian financial-banking market to increase domestic saving to boost 'true' crediting with emphasis on credit quality and intended mainly for the real economy and to prepare staff for risk and credit analysis.
