Dinu Patriciu's heirs may have to part with the huge fortune they inherited.

The Romanian state wants to recover an 85 million-dollar loss inflicted by Patriciu from assets left behind by the departed billionaire.

Patriciu's relatives claim there are no assets as the former billionaire died a poor man.

However, Patriciu left a will dividing his wealth among the most important women in his life. Most of the money went to his daughters and he allegedly disinherited his last wife he wanted to divorce from.

If they want to share his fortune, Dinu Patriciu's heirs must first pay the billionaire's debts. The biggest sum is owed to the Ministry of Finance - 85 million dollars.

Patriciu was thought to be the richest man in Romania, however he was allegedly bankrupt when he died.

When Patriciu filed for divorce, his wife Dana asked for assets worth two billion euros to be divided. Dinu Patriciu told judges he was worth ten times less.

The billionaire would not leave clues about the size of his wealth in his will either. The businessman allegedly left more than 82 percent of his fortune to his daughters, Ana and Maria. However, Patriciu had decided to disinherit his wife, Dana.

Towards the end of his life, Dinu Patriciu invested his money in real estate and art works. He also owned an impressive collection of luxury cars, a yacht worth 40 million euros and four Learjets.
