AGERPRES special correspondent Doroteea Purcarea reports: Prime Minister Dacian Ciolos hopes to convince the Ford Company leadership to invest in Romania not only in production, but also in research and development.

The Romanian premier met on Monday at the Research and Innovation Center of the Ford Motor Company some 20 Romanian nationals working for the U.S. company, of whom he declared himself very proud of and to whom he told he is expecting them in Romania, as well.

"I'm very happy for having the opportunity to meet the Romanian engineers and I must admit I am very proud of them. Hopefully we'll convince people at the Ford Company to invest not only in production (...) but also in research and development, because as you see, we have a lot of human resources and it is good that they work at the very core of the company; but I'm confident that we could do things as good in Romania, too," the prime minister said, talking with each and every Romanian present in the meeting.

Ciolos was guided during his visit by Stephen Biegun, vice president of International Governmental Affairs for Ford Motor Company.

Biegun asserted that premier Dacian Ciolos was an extremely constructive partner for the Ford Company. During his term over the past, Ford has strengthened Romania as main pillar of its production strategy in Europe, he added.

Ciolos is having on Monday a meeting with the president and CEO of the Ford Motor Company, Mark Fields.

Ciolos was accompanied by his Chancellery head Dragos Tudorache, by Department for Foreign Investments state secretary Manuel Costescu, the U.S. ambassador in Bucharest Hans Klemm, and Romania's ambassador in Washington George Maior.
