Arab countries have issued a ban on imports of sheep and cattle from Romania on account of the bluetongue disease. Our country has massive exports to Jordan, Syria and Israel. Romania cannot export in the European Union either.

Meat exporters association leaders say that farmers losses are huge and that the authorities do not communicate enough with them.

According to the National Sanitary Veterinary and Animals Safety Authority –ANSVSA, about 200 cattle, goats and sheep were affected by the bluetongue.

Bluetongue infection cases were reported in the counties of Buzau, Vrancea, Arges, Gorj, Valcea and Prahova.
