Romania may not enter into a new agreement with the International Monetary Fund this year. National Bank Governor Mugur Isarescu stated  that the "positive" conclusion of the  current International Monetary Fund Agreement  in the first half of the year would represent  a sufficient space for collaboration for the entire year.  The current agreement was signed  in  the spring of  2011, at the same time with  the closing of the  agreement started in 2009 and will be finalized in March-April of this year.

An IMF mission led by Erik the Vrijer, will be in Bucharest from January 15 to 29 for the 7th and 8th SBA assessment, the main topics of discussion  being the economic outlook, the 2013 budget, the  structural reforms and  the monetary policy.
