Romania is not on the  foreign tourists visitation list when it comes to holidays spending  location. Over 69% of foreigners who come to our country come for business. Specifically, seven of ten strangers who cross the borders of Romania come for work related interests. Only three choose our country for fun or rest.

National Institute of Statistics data show that the main reason for foreigners to travel  to Romania are businesses, participations in congresses, conferences, classes, fairs and exhibitions.

Eurostat data shows that although the number of nights spent by foreign tourists in hotels in Romania increased last year by 5.1%, Romanian tourism is still far behind  its neighboring states

Foreign tourists spent last year 3.5 million nights in Romania. Among the lowest levels registered  in the  European Union.

Instead, the Bulgarian hotel owners have enjoyed the visits of many more  foreign tourists. There were four times more nights than Romania had.
