PSD MP Sebastian Ghita is trying to get his hands on a huge project worth 84 million Euros from European funds. BBC writes that a consortium including several of Ghita’s close collaborators have been awarded contracts under a program that would develop internet network in the disadvantaged areas of Romania. The auction was organized by the Ministry of Communications, headed by Gita’s party colleague, Dan Nica.

The project’s feasibility study will be conducted by two companies, Reuters writes. The first one belongs to a friend of Ghita’s, namely the former sales director of the company TeamNet, from the time the company was part of the Asesoft. The second is among the shareholders and the law firm "Bostina and associates."

According to ZF, the firms were chosen from 11 competitors at an auction last year by the Ministry of Communications and the contract value amounts to EUR 400,000. The feasibility study should be ready by the end of next month.

The project management will cost around 200,000 Euros and will be conducted by other firms specialized in IT. The entire project is funded by the European Union with 84 million.

Romania has been trying to take the money since 2009, but only now the Ministry of Communications, headed by Dan Nica, was able to award the first contracts to companies that, according to ZF, are not foreign to Sebastian Ghita and his interests.

Minister Dan Nica could not be reached for a statement.
