World Economic Forum (WEF) presented on Wednesday the 2013-2014 Global Competitiveness Report. In its current edition Romania has climbed two positions from last year, ranking 76, a WEF press release reads, according to Agerpres.

The overall score obtained by Romania is 4.13 points (4.07 points up from last year) on a scale of one to seven. Before Romania there are countries such as Poland (number 42), the Czech Republic (46), Hungary (63) and Croatia (75). Romania is rated above countries such as Slovakia (78), Moldova (89) and Greece (91).

In the most competitive countries in the world top, Switzerland has retained its position as world leader for the fifth consecutive year (with a score of 5.67 points), followed by Singapore and Finland. Germany climbed to fourth place ahead of the U.S..

Indonesia has recorded one of the highest increases this year going 12 positions up to the 38th place. Instead, some of the states in the Middle East recorded the largest declines, ie Egypt lost 11 places , rated 118th place while Iran lost 16 places going down to position 82.

The WEF survey was conducted based on interviews with 15,000 corporate executives in 144 countries.
