The National Company TAROM Romanian Air Transport registered in the first quarter of 2013 losses of 49 million lei, Agerpres informs.
The balance shows a decrease by 15 million lei (24%) compared to the same period of last year.
In the first quarter of 2012, TAROM has registered losses amounting to 64 million Romanian lei.
“"The combination of multiple measures aimed both at increasing revenue and reducing costs, have compensated the economic difficulties and generated a very good result," Christian Heinzmann, CEO of TAROM, said according to the quoted source.
"We will continue to carefully manage the company's situation and implement the management plan started in the second quarter of this year, for a constant improvement and sustainable financial results," Heinzmann added.
He also said that the results looked very good in the management’s opinion and demonstrated a more efficient management of revenues and costs.
"We expect better results staring with the second quarter since the management plan begins to be implemented. According to our knowledge at this time, we will fully achieve the objectives for 2013, " Heinzmann added.
TAROM specified that the financial outcomes had not yet been subject to auditing.
