The IMF mission will arrive in Bucharest on June 2 for the third review of the stand-by agreement. The most important topic of discussion will be the reduction of the health insurance contribution rate  at  the  employer, starting with the second half of the year.

The IMF representatives will analyze the economic growth,  the inflation, the budget revenues and the budget adjustment over the first half of the year to determine whether Romania can bear  the impact of such a measure. The government claims that it wants a significant reduction of the  social  assurance contribution rate without affecting the  budget revenues.

Also related to taxation,  the Government has already committed to the IMF to examine the effectiveness of  the 9% reducing VAT reduction on  bakery, in order to ask for the same reduction in basic food products. A new strategy is being prepared  for the taxation of property according to their use.
