Liberal Senator Ioan Ghişe announced in the today's edition of the "100 Minutes show with Alessandra Stoicescu" that he will leave PNL, but that he will collect signatures in order to run in the presidential election as an independent.
"I made the last attempts in the desire to maintain respect for citizens' vote (...) personally I am going through a very serious moment of reflection and with a high degree of probability I tell you first that I will make a decision tomorrow and Wednesday I will make it public, "he said.
Asked if he left the PNL, he answered a decisive ‘yes’. He also said he was considering running for the presidential election this fall as an independent.
"I will stay independent for a period I intend even more than that. I will announce the intention of gathering signatures. If the signatures will exceed the number provided by law, I will run as independent for president of Romania."
"First of all I am a senator from Brasov, elected in college, where citizens voted 90 percent for Traian Basescu's dismissal in the referendum and 60 percent for the USL. (...)", he added.
