Crin Antonescu acknowledged  for the first time that the negotiations to join the EPP had started long before the European  elections.

Antonescu added that the completion of this process  was the main reason he accepted to be interim president of the PNL.

"The Congress  will certainly ratify our natural choice, naturally  for the EPP," former president of the Liberal Party said.

"I served as interim (president of the party) so that the negotiations for the PNL to join the EPP should be finalized.
