The secret services got involved in the elections campaign in Romania and the photos with Elena Udrea and the head of DIOCT, Alina Bica, in Paris were taken with the support of the French secret service said Thursday President Traian Basescu.
"Clearly, the secret services got involved in the campaign. Clearly, some things were wrong, " Basescu said on a TV channel.
"On September 10, 2014, I summoned the heads of the two services, the SRI and SIE and their deputies and I warned them not to get involved in the elections campaign. Present in the studio during the show "On today’s agenda", Mihăiţă Calimente, president of the SIE Control Committee in Parliament, said that Basescu had violated the law.
"The intelligence services relate to the CSAT, not with the Romanian President directly. It is a violation of the law, because they are under the control of the Parliament. What Mr. Băsescu does is a denigration of the services for the interests of individuals, and I am referring here to Mrs. Udrea " Calimente explained.
At the same time, Basescu believes that the French intelligence service cooperated with the Romanian one in scandal related to the revelations about Elena Udrea.
"No officer of any Romanian intelligence service could go to the hotel reception and have the receptionist look into the receipts issued seven months ago by the reception. Clearly that was collaboration and it was prompt one. After Elena Udrea submitted her candidacy, they immediately requested to receive this receipt, because the photos they already had since February, " Basescu said.
Journalist Radu Tudor commented on the statements by the President, about whom he said that "he was slipping on a paranoid type slope."
