The prime minister also said last night during the Meeting Point show with Radu Tudor, that the president infiltrated his own people in various state institutions who were still willing to make favours to the one who appointed them.
“If the Constitutional Court decides on the 21st , that which I believe to be a sensible and constitutional decision namely that the president of Romania cannot get actively involved in the elections campaign, and after this decision Traian Băsescu continues to campaign, the next day – I am speaking in my capacity of PSD leader – we will obviously submit a request for the suspension procedure. If he does not observe the decision of the Court, not only will we start the suspension procedure, but I guarantee to you that this time no European partner – well there might be some intellectual friends of Mr. Basescu to shout out – but absolutely nobody will protect him”, Ponta added Sunday on Antenna 3.
The PSD leader Victor Ponta said Wednesday, responding to a question, that he will not trigger a new procedure to suspend the President if the Constitutional Court decides that Basescu has violated the Constitution wearing a shirt with the PMP logo.
The Government submitted Tuesday with the Constitutional Court a notification related to president Traian Basescu’s involvement in the elections campaign.

Premier Victor Ponta shows in the notification sent to the Constitutional Court that president Traian Băsescu, on the occasions of different public events has manifested his support for a certain political party, the head of state’s attitude materialized both by direct nomination of a political party that he will vote and the active popularization of this political election signs, respectively of the People’s Movement Party.
President Traian Băsescu stated that he had definitley not breached the fundamental law and he reminded the Constitutional Court’s ruling since 2007 which clearly stated that “the president has not dropped from the sky”
President Traian Basescu said on Monday that he was not afraid of a new suspension from office and conveyed to Prime Minister Victor Ponta that he would vote for the Popular Movement Party and that he would make public statements to that effect.
Asked if he was afraid of a new suspension from office, president Băsescu replied "No. (...) I am telling to Premier Ponta: I will vote for the PMP and I will make public statements whereby I will not hide this option ", the head of state said Monday for Adevărul Live, according to Mediafax.
Basescu added that Prime Minister Victor Ponta’s "temptation" to use the state in a political battle is "obvious".
"Look at what he is doing with the Control Body. He is a man of exaggerated ambitions and he wants to be the Alpha male in terms of power within the state establishment of Romania, which is not right, because the balance between the powers is lost”, Traian Băsescu added.
