Cristian Troncotă, dean of the National Intelligence Academy considers that the former head of the SRI, George Maior, left the SRI leadership because of Elena Udrea.

Why is Elena Udrea targeting Florian Coldea, former deputy at the SRI, and not George Maior, former director of SIE, the man who said before resigning that he endorsed the intelligent input of the last eight years.

„Elena Udrea tells us that Băsescu did not rule Romania, nor did the heads of governments, but Coldea did. It seems silly to me. Mrs. Udrea is attacking Coldea all of a sudden, but we recall that a while back she was praising the same Mr. Coldea. The issue is that between Udrea and Coldea a fallout intervened which Maior did not endorse. To avoid such a scandal, Maior has resigned. You should know that the SRI is managed by a Board of Directors where the vote is secrete. In Elena Udrea’s case, the Board of Directors has decided something that Mr. Maior did not agree with, and Mr. Maior has left“,Cristian Troncotă said, the dean of the National Intelligence Academy for Adevărul.

As for Elena Udrea’s alleations that the pictures from Paris depicting her together with Alina Bica were taken by the SRI, Troncotă said: „She is a lawyer by profession and she should have known that SRI has competence on Romania’s territory. It is stupid to accuse the SRI of having been responsible for the stake out in Paris. SIE has got competences outside Romania“.
