Councillor Ştefanel-Dan Marin from the National Union for Romania's Progress is the interim Mayor of Bucharest. The City Council made this decision yesterday, following negotiations between parties and councillors. The position of Mayor became vacant after the Prefect signed the resolution to suspend Sorin Oprescu, who is in custody for bribe-taking. Under the Law, Mayor Oprescu's supension will end if he is released from prison.
