ACL censure motion entitled "Victor Ponta is threatening the rule of law! Stop the PSD from defrauding the elections " was rejected, with 154 votes "in favor".
There were also 12 votes cast "against” and one abstention.
The PSD, PC, UNPR, PLR and UDMR lawmakers did not attend the voting on the censure motion submitted by the ACL.
The only ones to cast their votes in the urns were the PDL and Liberal MPs along the unaffiliated belonging to the PMP.
Moreover, the PSD MPs representatives did not take the stand during the debates on the motion, Prime Minister Victor Ponta was the only one who answered the charges brought by the initiators of the motion.
The censure motion entitled "Victor Ponta is threatening the rule of law! Stop the PSD from defrauding the elections " was signed by 171 ACL MPs.
Under Article 113 of the Constitution, the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate, in joint session, can withdraw the confidence from the Government by adopting a motion of censure by the majority of deputies and senators.
288 votes would have been needed to meet the majority requirement.
If the motion of censure was rejected, the MPs who signed it may not submit another in the same session, unless the Government assumes responsibility in Parliament.
