The professor explained that he had experienced a time like that during Ceauşescu’s regime and provided examples.
"I remember we were not allowed to speak but to whispers or speak into each other’s year about cabinet 1 and cabinet 2. The feeling I would experience during those times was a feeling of riot. I have never believed that I would ever get to experience such feelings again, that people should not be able to speak up. If you have a friend, a good lawyer, and you want to recommend him to someone that’s called influence peddling, and so on. I do not want to go into all these aberrations, but I mean to say that I am one of the most determined admirers of a truly democratic state. All theories about democracy in Romania, as they are perceived, are things to be discussed from January on. "
Also professor Voiculescu pointed out that most likely, "the avalanche" set against him was directly related with the disclosures Antena 3 TV station made about the problems of president Basescu’s brother.
"In fact, I've been thinking about what actually happened. Knowing that I’ve done nothing wrong, that I am not guilty of anything, that in all these cases there is no sort of material evidence, direct or indirect, against me. I’ve set on in an introspective analysis to understand what is happening. My conclusion is that after Antena 3 broadcast the evidence which probably triggered the of the Romanian President’s brother, an avalanche started, an outbreak of a group of people who triggered all sorts of unfounded attacks. "
Still, Dan Voiculescu stressed that he wanted to see a European Romania, where prosecutors and judges are unbiased and that he is ready to bear any consequences arising from his disputes against Traian Băsescu.
"I want Romania to become a truly democratic state, a European country, where prosecutors and judges are unbiased and, with apologies, I know it's not nice, I'd like for the public of these wonderful people too, I would like to convey that there is no sort of reason to be ashamed. I 'm ready to support any kind of consequences for my involvement in recent years in disputes with Traian Basescu. "
