Darius Vâlcov resigned from the office of Minister of Finance. The announcement was made by Victor Ponta during the show Meeting Point on Antena 3.

"Today, at lunch, Mr. Vâlcov was in my office and presented to me his resignation. I’ve told "ok, I know what this is about, I just want you to complete it – because probably on Wednesday the Tax Code text has to be ready and so does the Tax Procedure Code – and then I will name a replacement for the office of Minister of Finance”, Victor Ponta stated.
The prime minister also said he would decide in the coming days, whom to propose for the Minister of Finance position.

„Beyond the political battles and other analyses that we can do, the most important thing is for these codes to enter next week in the Parliament’s debate and have them adopted by the end of the session”, PM Ponta added.
Sunday afternoon, the Presidency submitted a statement whereby President Klaus Iohannis asked Prime Minister Victor Ponta to initiate proceedings for revocation of the Minister of Finance Darius Vâlcov, noting that he would have expected Vâlcov to resign, given that the DNA prosecutors ordered the indictment in his case.

The Finance Minister Darius Vâlcov, is accused of influence peddling, being suspected that as mayor of Slatina, he had intervened in favor of a businessman in the award of contracts, the latter promising 20 percent of the amounts collected.
