PSD President Liviu Dragnea revealed Sunday on Antena 3, that Friday after his conviction in the referendum case he was called by President Klaus Iohannis, who asked him to resign.
”He called me Friday (Klaus Iohannis -), around 7 in the evening. I was driving”, said the PSD president Liviu Dragnea, Sunday during the show Meeting Point on Antena 3.
Dragnea told how he pulled over to speak with the president.
”He told me that personally he regretted it, but he believed that, as I was holding this position, I should resign because I was likely to affect the image of Romania”.
"I found it inappropriate for the president of Romania to ask the president of a political party to resign. He has no right to interfere in the life of a party, "continued Dragnea.
Moreover, "I think that without realizing it, he entered into an unconstitutional area ", concluded the head of PSD.
PSD President Liviu Dragnea, was sentenced on Friday by the High Court of Cassation and Justice, two years’ probation, with a trial period of four years, in the "referendum" case.
