The interim president of the Social Democratic Party wants the presidential, parliamentary and local elections to be all held every five years in Romania. Liviu Dragnea said that the ruling party would like to amend the Constitution, so that the mandates of MPs and Mayors be extended to five years and their election date should coincide with the presidential run-off. The reason behind it is that the current electoral calendar cannot allow for governance programs spanning more than a couple of years.
