MPs voted for a new request for the arrest of Elena Udrea, filed by prosecutors in the Gala Bute case. Udrea has received the court’s permission to leave house arrest to defend herself in front of her colleagues, but for no more than 4 hours. On entering the Parliament, Elena Udrea told the press that she would say things that will make her colleagues worry.
Here is what Udrea conveyed to the deputies:
In the City Police arrest, I’be been searched to the bone and undressed. I’ve had to put a plastic bottle as toilet seat cover to prevent rats from getting through
You have approved six request against me, three of which were arrest warrants. All under the fixed idea: "We do not oppose justice". I agreed, and I told then that justice must work for all (..) but for that it was enough to give just an endorsement to the prosecution requests for the investigation to be able follow its course as far as I'm concerned.
It did not matter that it was obvious that I was the target of specific actions that had been kept secret by using handcuffs on me
Most of you have been afraid, afraid of those who I am fighting against and who, tomorrow, could do the same you if you dared to speak and dared to oppose.
There is nobody in this country who could ever say that I, Elena Udrea, have ever asked anyone to do things other than by the law, other than what the law allows.
Today, when you cast your vote, I want you to think that everything going on now constitutes a very dangerous precedent.
I will not anoint myself, I will not read psalms nor say prayers, it would not be fair nor to me nor to you, nor to the Romanians watching us.

Following these statements, the deputies approved the request for the initiation of DNA prosecutions against MP Elena Udrea, for new charges in the Gala Bute"case " with 218 votes "for" and 76 "against".
MEPs also voted in favor of the remand application for Elena Udrea. 170 voted "for" and 118 "against". The votes cast by MPs were secret..
