"Undoubtedly, there have been many important people in the PNL who have never agreed to Crin Antonescu’s policy and now after the European elections results had the courage to call a spade a spade. Crin Antonescu I believe, took a rational decision and chose well when he said that he no longer ran for president of Romania, I believe that through this he secures his political future, " Gyorgy Frunda from UDMR said Tuesday during the Subjective show on Antena 3.
Related to the PNL’s transfer from ALDE to EPP, Frunda does not have a good opinion about this move on the political stage.
"As an observer, I think the PNL’s transfer from ALDE to the European People's Party is a big mistake, it means giving up a tradition and losing a future, a big mistake," added Gyorgy Frunda.
Crin Antonescu announced on May 31 that he would not run for the Presidency of Romania and that he ended his interim in the PNL leadership.
The Romanian liberals are part of the ALDE Group, the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE) argues in a press release.
The Liberal deputy Sorin Frunzăverde said Tuesday that the actual accession of the Liberals into the PPE will take effect at the beginning of July, stating that the required documentation has been submitted and that Adina Valean could be vice president of the European Parliament.
