ACL candidate for Presidency, Klaus Iohannis, said Thursday that the first thing he meant to give up when he became head of state was the president's immunity, according to Agerpres.
In this way, Iohannis would meet one of the requirements in Macovei’s letter.
Also, the ACL candidate says that the items contained in the letter from Macovei in exchange for her support in the second round are included in his presidential program and that he has no problem to put this in a written document.
"I took note with joy of Monica Macovei’s statements, who says she wants to support me if I assumed some of her requirements. Very well, I am pleased to reaffirm that all these things are found in my presidential program and some have been reaffirmed today, the independence of judiciary, the rule of law, the fact that I will not pardon corrupt people, that I want prevent the adoption of the amnesty and pardon law. I think I gave a reasonable answer to Monica Macovei and I have no problem, I can reconfirm with great pleasure all these things in a written document. So yes, they are the same things that I want for Romania, for a just society, "said Iohannis.
