Romania has made real progress on the rule of law, said on Tuesday, U.S. Vice President Joe Biden who arrived in Bucharest, but warned that more remains to be done, and that the U.S. will support the efforts of Bucharest to stay "on track" .

"Countries that do not have a strong rule of law, an independent judiciary and strong democratic institutions are vulnerable to the kind of actions Russia is carrying out in Ukraine. Since my last visit to Romania five years ago, real progress has been made in Romania on the consolidation of the rule of law and the officials accountability for the trust people bestowed on them. But there are things to be done. We know that it is not always easy, and the U.S. support Romania's efforts to stay on track. Stability, transparency and rule of law are essential for investments and we want our economic relations to continue developing and growing. We are directly interested to see Romania prosper. Strong democracies based on the rule of law, are more capable friends and allies ", Joe Biden, said in an interview for Mediafax.

The statement of the US vice president was presented in the 100 minutes show on Antenna 3.

The U.S. Vice President Joe Biden arrived in Bucharest on Tuesday afternoon aboard Air Force 2, along his wife, for a two-day official visit. During his stay he will meet with President Băsescu, Prime Minister Ponta and the civil society , the main topic to be addressed being the situation in the region.
