UDMR President, Kelemen Hunor, stated on Wednesday that there existed “lots of reasons” for President Basescu to be suspended.
He added that UDMR was considering that the MPs belonging to its Group to be present at the session and even vote, Mediafax reports.
According to him, during the joint session of the Union’s parliamentary groups, there weren’t relevant discussions upon President Basescu suspension, as the UDMR’s MPs had not seen the document that was to be forwarded on Wednesday to the Permanent Bureaus of the Parliament.
“We do not know the content of the document and as soon as we read it we shall decide at our turn. That is why I don’t want to seem either very categorical, or undecided for the time being. I consider that, before we discuss, we should see the document”, Kelemen said.
Being asked about the emergency ordinance by which the Executive removed the compulsory note of CC (the Constitutional Court) regarding President’s suspension, he answered: “It was a consultative note, it was not compulsory”.
The vice leader of the National Liberal deputies, Eugen Nicolaescu, announced that USL would present at the joint Permanent Bureaus the documents to initiate the procedure of President Traian Basescu’s suspension.
Nicolaescu said that the main impeachments brought to the head of state were to be released to the media when the documents were submitted.
