UPDATE 17.02 – The PSD political coordinator, Liviu Dragnea, officially announced Tuesday his decision to candidate for acting president of PSD position, in the Executive Committee meeting to be held tomorrow.
"Following discussions in recent days with a lot of colleagues, the majority of the Executive Committee, I have decided that tomorrow (Wednesday at CExN meeting -) I will ask for a vote of confidence to take over as president of PSD, following the resignation of Victor Ponta" Liviu Dragnea stated Tuesday at PSD headquarters.
The political coordinator of the PSD also said that he will bring forth a plan in the upcoming period.
Dragnea added, answering a question, that in his decision to run for PSD interim leadership, what mattered was the conviction that with his involvement and the formation of a serious leadership team, the party can regain its confidence that over the next period it will seriously prepare so that the election year of 2016 should be successful.
"The party can be stabilized, it can regain confidence ", said Dragnea.
As regards tomorrow's vote, the political coordinator of the PSD said he expects a vote from the prime minister and added that he will never do anything against Victor Ponta, who has been his friend since 2010.
"I am a friend and comrade with Victor Ponta since 2010, I was and I remain his friend in deed and in thought, and all my life I will not ever do anything against Ponta. (...) I expect tomorrow to receive the vote of Victor Ponta, because Victor Ponta has been voted by me all the time ", Liviu Dragnea said.
The National Executive Committee (CExN) of PSD is convened for Wednesday, at 15.00, to take a decision on the party's interim leader. After the resignation as of Victor Ponta as president of PSD, the interim leadership has been provided by the Rovana Plumb.

There is one more day until the Executive Committee of PSD meeting and Liviu Dragnea would announce his candidacy today for the party's interim president position.
Moreover Dragnea would want a Congress to be held in November while the Ponta-Plumb camp want the congress meeting to be held in 2017.

The 93 members of CEx, if they all attend the meeting tomorrow, half plus one will decide who will be the interim president of the party, Rovana Plumb or Liviu Dragnea, the Antena 3 reporter, Diana Lazăr said.
