The mayor of Constanța, Radu Mazăre, was detained Monday by the prosecutors of the National Anti-Corruption Directorate after several hours of hearings.

Monday evening he came out of the DNA premises in handcuffs and he was taken into police custody.

At the exit, asked why he was detained , Radu Mazăre said that it was for some contracts with a TV station to which he was no longer a shareholder.

Prior to coming to the DNA, the mayor said he was called in relation to a claim made by the National Integrity Agency and its leader Horia Georgescu, for incompatibility.

"I do not know what charges will be brought. There was a similar complaint filed in 2009, it was investigated, then they said everything was fine now, probably for the same complaint, other charges will be brought. (... ) It has to do with the fact that the newspaper Telegraph and TV Neptun won some auctions , Strutinsky is a shareholder thereof and I'm shareholder with Strutinsky at Hotel Flora, "said Radu Mazăre, upon entering the DNA, carrying a bag with him.

Asked what he was doing with the luggage, the Constanta mayor said he was ready for anything. "I've been ready for anything for ten years. (...) In life it's good to be prepared for anything," he argued.

Regarding the fact that at the DNA there was also the head of the NIA, Radu Mazare said : "I know something life taught me. In life, if you do good things you get good things back if you do bad things you get bad things back."

Mazăre said, jokingly, that the City Arrest is now called the 'royal cellar' 'given' that 'good people' 'are here.
