Meeting Point: The STS involvement in the 2009 presidential elections

The approaching presidential elections brings up for discussion the topic of the 2009 presidential elections, when the elections were dubiously won, and, as it appears, the intelligence services played a decisive role in the outcome thereof.

The topic was debated on the Sunday edition of the show “Meeting Point” by Radu Tudor, together with his guest, professor Cristian Pârvulescu.

He explained that there are some doubts related to the phones used by the STS (special telecommunication service) in 2009. Around 15,000 special mobile phones of the STS, were given to the heads of polling stations across the country. Various political messages and important data were sent with them.

The formula you see there used to be a standard formula in polls here, with information that cannot be transmitted from your mobile phone. The data seen at the PDL headquarters in 2009 by Adrien Videanu could not have been sent on a mobile phone. It was too much. I do not believe that they could have collected the data. 15,000 cell phones would only have covered part of the needs. Let’s say the polling station abroad did not have any, but why some did have and some did not?"

The professor explained that there is a tradition of votes rigging in Romania, starting with 1858, and Romanians do not see the elections as a positive movement.

"We have a tradition of rigging votes. Fraud has been committed since the beginning of voting in our country. We are referring to 1858. Folklore, legends, show that the vote was rigged over time, almost incessantly , with a break in 1928, when Peasants were in power. Can we allow to consider presidents illegitimate from the start, right from the very beginning? The elections method in the United States is not healthy, it causes real trauma, but we should find resources to be together. Well, this does not happen, because there are always doubts."
