Judicial reform and corruption fighting are conducted regardless of ethnicity or religion of Romanian citizens, said Foreign Ministry after Viktor Orban’s chief of staff said that Romania carries out ‘explicit anti-Hungarian activities under the "guise" of transparency and justice ".

"Judicial reform and continuing the fight against corruption, which are key priorities of Romania, are conducted regardless of ethnicity or religion of Romanian citizens. The results and developments relevant for the Romanian institutions in these areas are appreciated as such at European level", MFA specified asked to comment by Mediafax, after Lazar Janos chief Cabinet of Prime Minister Viktor Orban argued before members of the National Security Committee of the Hungarian Parliament that Bucharest has undertaken " explicit anti-Hungarian activities" under the guise of "transparency and justice".

On the other hand, the Foreign Ministry stressed as that "as a general line of conduct" it "does not comment provocative statements recently launched in public by Hungarian officials at various levels, claiming that, in substance, they have a low degree of credibility."

Regarding the statement on destabilizing "activities and of the financial situation of the Hungarian churches in Romania", MAE informs that "restitution of properties confiscated during the communist regime is an ongoing process, in accordance with the legal provisions, also without any ethnic or religion discrimination. "

MFA does not agree with the statement of Lazar who claimed that there is "a plot intentionally and knowingly" to block projects connecting the gas networks of Romania and Croatia with Hungary, reminding that Romania and Hungary are coordinating at European level to do this.
"Romania and Hungary are coordinated at European level, including on projects of connecting the gas networks within the High Level Group for Connectivity in the gas sector in Central and Southeastern Europe (CESEC)", MFA says.
