MEP Mircea Diaconu is courted by all political groups in the European Parliament. Diaconu however, has decided to preserve his quality of independent, although inclined to give his vote to Liberal Europeans, whose doctrine is more in tune with his beliefs.

The newly elected MEP met with Graham Watson, but also with  ALDE Group  Leader Guy Verhofstadt, who promised him he would try to change the status of the liberal group in the European Parliament, to enable him to remain independent, yet affiliated  to ALDE.

The leader of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats in Europe (ALDE) will come soon to Romania, where he  plans to talk about how the Liberal Party has decided to abandon the group to which it belonged.

 "I met with several groups, each invited me, presented things to me trying to tempt me, but my affinity is very clear,  with the liberal ALDE group, I had a very applied discussion  with  Guy Verhofstadt about many Romanian  things",  independent MEP Mircea Diaconu said.
