On Today’s agenda. Daniel Savu: SRI knew Băsescu was the head of the mafia
03 Mar 2015 • 12:57
The PSD Senator Daniel Savu said Monday evening on the show "On Today’s Agenda" with Dana Grecu and Radu Tudor, that the former head of SRI knew that the former DIOCT chief, Alina Bica, was involved in the mafia of restitutions, but did not say anything because he knew that the top boss of that mafia was Traian Basescu.
"He knew, sure he knew, that's why we have these files now. But it was an ongoing criminal process development and nobody could warn him because the law thus required. Not even the Minister of Justice, the President nor the PM, once someone like Bica was in a pyramid of crimes, they could no longer be informed, " the former SRI officer said.
If SRI knew that Alina Bica was part of a mafia like network and did not inform the President of Romania, SRI is an accomplice and has a serious criminal liability, Radu Tudor said.
"If he knew and informed the President and Traian Basescu’s answer was I will take care of this and the SRI went to the Prosecutor and the Prosecutor did not initiate a criminal case, then we have a very serious problem with the judicial institutions, because if SRI noticed that there was something wrong in the relationship between the President's and Prosecutors, SRI had to go to the Control Commission in Parliament and say that something was wrong. The power is supremely owned by the Parliament which may intervene to stop an unlawful action. If SRI had information that Basescu was the head of mafia, SRI was obliged to go to the Control Commission and began an action for dismissal of the President of Romania for high treason, "the show co-producer said..
