"We participate in these discussions openly. We want to collaborate on short, medium and long term. So, we will not consider only the presidential elections this year, but also the local and parliamentary elections of 2016", Vasile Blaga said.
He said that the PDL was looking for the establishment of a large center-right party.
"We welcome the Liberals desire to be part of the EPP family," Blaga said.
However, the Liberal Democrat president also added that "we do not want a political alliance against anyone, but for Romanians and for Romania".
The PDL leadership approved unanimously on Wednesday the beginning of discussions to form an alliance with the Liberal Party. The announcement was made by PDL President, Vasile Blaga.
The draft of the plan should be by the Liberal convention in June, when the PNL-PDL collaboration will be validated.
PNL - PDL Negotiations will be held Wednesday at 17.00.
Information came out yesterday that the PDL and the PNL will again shake hands for a new political alliance. They will leave out Elena Udrea, but she argued she would support any presidential candidate capable of defeating the PSD.
It's kind of revival of the DA alliance, which some sources say could even turn into merger of the two parties, but only after January 1, 2015.
