PNL announced Thursday that the PNL Vice presidents Teodor Atanasiu and Cătălin Predoiu have had a meeting with the PSRO leaders for talks on forming a parliamentary majority and if they reached an understanding then both parties will sign a government agreement .

The meeting between the PNL leaders and Geoană’s party took place Wednesday, a press release by the Liberal party reads.

"During the meeting, it was decided to form working teams to discuss on chapters, the government program. It was also agreed that, in the end, if they reached a view agreed by both parties related to the government program, the PNL and PSRO will sign a government agreement. This is the first step after the PSRO replied the PNL’s invitation to discuss the government program topic, "reads the press issued by PNL.

The Liberals also add that they speak to all the independent MPs who want to join their government plan.

Senator Mircea Geoană, former member of PSD, announced at the beginning of March that they decided to set up a new left party, the Romanian Socialist Party in response to the "serious deviation from the left identity by the PSD led by Victor Ponta".

The left party project initiators are: Mihai Bărbuliceanu, Ana Cătăuţă, Răzvan Condurăţeanu, Cătălin Croitoru, Maria Dragomir, Mircea Geoană, Bogdan Georgescu, Radu Golban, Florentin Gust, Aurel Dan Ioniţă, Valer Marian, Oana Mizil, Raul Pătraşcu, Petre Petrescu, Radu Popa, Răzvan Rotaru, Iriza Scarlat, Dan Tătaru, Tudor Tănăsescu, Violeta Tudosie, Marian Vanghelie.

Mircea Geoană was excluded from the PSD at the wish of the current PSD president Victor Ponta, on November 27, 2014, after the presidential elections. Along Geoană, Dan Şova and Marian Vanghelie were also excluded from the party.
