Ponta: I am not interested in what the PNL is doing with Sorin Roşca Stănescu. The PSD is interested in having all the guaranties that the PNL keeps being solidary

The USL co-president, Victor Ponta said Monday that what happened with Liberal Sorin Rosca Stanescu in particular was not important, but that they were interested in what happened within the Union and the PSD wanted to know that PNL kept being solidary to the PSD both in central and local government.

‘I am not interested in what the PNL is doing to Sorin Roşca Stănescu, I have never said what they had to do. (...) If they expelled him today and the next day another Liberal would come and do the same thing, what good would that serve? Nothing We are interested in a certain attitude that lately has not been as clear, that is that some ministers were in Government and other PNL MPs were acting as the opposition, which just cannot be(...) The coalition must work ’, the PSD president Victor Ponta said. 

Moreover, Ponta said that the term ‘ultimatum’, that he allegedly had given to the PNL was just a term used by the media. 

‘Ultimatum is a term circulated by the press. Roşca Stănescu’ is also a term in the press. We are not that interested in Rosca Stanescu. We are interested in having all the guarantees that we will continue to share in all the responsibilities and that we are solidary, we take the decision together within the USL and within the Government and nobody can play the same game as the PDL between 2005 -2006, when they were both in government and in the opposition because the outcome will be the same. One cannot be both in government and in the opposition. You’re either on one side or the other” Ponta said. 

He pointed out that it was important for the PSD that the PNL be solidary both in Parliament , in Government and throughout the country too.

‘What’s important for us is that in the Parliament, in the country – where if we signaled out from the headquarters that we could attack each other, you can imagine what would happen in the country, they all can hardly wait to see the clearance for attacks – therefore everywhere, in the Parliament, in the Government, in the country we are solidary and the PNL is solidary with us as they have been these two and a half years’, Ponta said.

The PNL leader, Crin Antonescu stated Monday that the “Rosca Stanescu episode is closed” and that in his opinion there is no crisis within the USL anymore.

A Liberals leadership meeting on the crisis in the USL takes place on Monday morning after the party president summoned the vice presidents of the party The meeting is to be attended by Puiu Haşotti and Eduard Hellvig

The topic on the agenda is the situation of Roşca Stănescu, considering that today expires the ultimatum given by PM Ponta. The PSD leader asked that SRS be expelled from the PNL.

Sunday night, the leader of the PSD senators, Ilie Sarbu warned that the Social Liberal Union would break up if the alliance did not expel Monday the PNL senator Sorin Rosca Stanescu.
