Victor Ponta officially entered Wednesday in the presidential race. The PSD leader submitted Wednesday to the Central Electoral Office his registration file to run for the office of President of Romania in the electoral alliance UNPR PSD-PC.
Ponta said that, if elected, he will be the president who in 1989 was not yet 18 years old. In terms of projects, Ponta said that Romania needs change and unity, he wants to change the profile of the president - not to be the one to generate crisis - because the country needs unity.
Ponta was accompanied at BEC’s headquarters by his wife, Daciana Sârbu, by leaders of the parties in the alliance, respectively deputy prime ministers Gabriel Oprea and Daniel Constantin. The former PSD minister of Education, Ecaterina Andronescu, has also accompanied Ponta.
Prime Minister Ponta, the candidate from the electoral alliance PSD-PC UNPR for President of Romania, is the first of those who have announced their intention to participate in the November elections to submit his candidacy with the Electoral Office.
Victor Ponta was welcomed at his arrival at the Electoral Office by a group of supporters.
September 23 is the last day when candidacies for the presidential elections can be submitted.
The launching of Ponta's candidacy in the presidential elections will be held on Saturday in Bucharest at the National Arena, where organizers are expecting nearly 70,000 participants. The event is set to begin at 16:00h and will last for one hour and a half.
Victor Ponta will launch his candidacy in the presidential elections on his birthday. He will be 42 on Saturday.
