The Romanian Prime Minister's trial has got underway. Victor Ponta is facing 19 corruption charges in the Turceni-Rovinari case, now on the Judges' desk. The criminal offences were allegedly committed during the time when the defendant was working as a lawyer.

Ponta did not show up in Court yesterday because he had not been summoned to appear, he said, adding that he would make a broad statement on the stand.

Victor Ponta is charged with 17 counts of forgery in documents under private signature, tax fraud complicity and money laundering, criminal offences allegedly committed as a lawyer in the Turceni-Rovinari case.

The Prime Minister will go before Supreme Court Judges alongside Dan Şova and three other persons.
