Omar Hayssam is making startling revelations. In an interview for Antena 3, the Syrian convicted of terrorism says journalists Marie-Jeanne Ion, Ovidiu Ohanesian and Sorin Miscoci were not kidnapped in Iraq.
It was all, allegedly, a ploy gotten out of control. Also, the already famous professor who features in the prosecutors transcripts in the kidnapping file would be Traian Băsescu himself.
Omar Hayssam granted exclusively for Antena 3, the first interview after he was brought home. The Syrian spoke without restraint about his relationship with Traian Basescu. The two had had several meetings, including at the Cotroceni Palace.
Hayssam also added that he was made to flee the country and revealed the identity of the one whom they called "professor".
The professor featured in several conversation of Omar Hayssam and the prosecutor who investigated the kidnapping of the journalists in Iraq, but also in a letter which the Syrian sent to dr. Mohamad Yassin from prison, the official envoy of Traian Basescu in the case of the kidnapping in Iraq. About the kidnapping, Hayssam arguesd that initially it was all a ploy . But in Iraq things had gotten out of control.
Omar Hayssam was sentenced to serve 23 years in jail for terrorism and for kidnapping the Romanian journalists in Iraq.
