Romania will not accept the mandatory 63 hundred immigrant quota set by the European Commission. 

 
President Klaus Iohannis considers that imposing such quotas is not a solution to the refugee crisis. 
 
The Romanian head of state said he discussed the matter with Interior Minister Gabriel Oprea, whose mandate at the extraordinary Justice and Home Affairs Council is to reject the mandatory migrant quotas.
 
Romania rejects the mandatory, 63 thousand migrant quota set by the European Commission. 
 
President Klaus Iohannis has also discussed the matter with Interior Minister Gabriel Oprea.
 
The EU will not impose sanctions on states unwilling to accept mandatory refugee quotas but the respective countries may have to pay a compensation amounting to 0.002 per cent of GDP.
 
Romanian border guards have apprehended at the Arad checkpoint another nine migrants trying to illegally cross the frontier to Romania. 
 
Among the nine people there is a Syrian family of five, three Turkish citizens and an Afghan, aged between 19 and 51 years old. The migrants told the police they were on their way to Germany.
