Călin Popescu Tăriceanu accuses Klaus Iohannis that he has transformed the PNL into a party with no identity, because, although the Liberals were PDL’s and Basescu's opponents starting with his first term at the Cotroceni Palace, now they are all in one alliance.
Moreover, the union of the political forces that make up the Christian Liberal Alliance has been made by a decision of Klaus Iohannis, without the Liberal Party members having a say in it.
"Iohannis has wiped out the political identity of PNL . Since 2006, PNL has been a political opponent who thwarted his plans. In 2012, the Liberal Party had no problem in contributing to a referendum to change the president, "the PLR President, Călin Popescu Tariceanu said.
"In the Liberal party’s case, the party migrated. We are no longer Liberals, we move over to the People's Party, we keep the cap, we kiss with Basescu. (...) What happened in PNL is enlightening. The decision to merge was not taken in consultation with the members and the regional leaders, " Tariceanu added.
