Romania would not be in trouble in the winter even if Gazprom decided to completely stop the gas supply and the winter were extremely difficult, said Energy delegated minister Razvan Nicolescu, during a press conference.

Nicolescu said that Russian gas supplies will fall by 10% from Tuesday to Sunday, stating that Gazprom representatives have not informed the authorities in Bucharest of the reasons they reduced the gas volumes.

"I think we should start to get used to this situation, which perhaps we will often encounter it in the weeks and months ahead," the minister said.

However, Nicolescu assured that it is about "absolutely insignificant amounts and there is no risk for the winter, even if the supplies stopped completely until spring and even if winter were extremely difficult ".

"I’ve tried to talk today with the Russian Ambassador to Bucharest, but it was not possible. I was told that he was not in Bucharest. I wanted to know the reason of these cuts, because nor TRANSGAZ, nor Gazprom have any answer" Energy Minister said.

"We hope that the energy is not used as a political weapon, because who would do that would have to lose " Nicolescu said.

In late August, during the "Income" show on Antena 3, Razvan Nicolescu assured that he ruled out any possibility of Romania's population being affected by a gas crisis.
