The voting process in diaspora was difficultly carried out because of the additional measures taken by the Election Authority, Victor Ponta and Liviu Dragnea said. However, Iohannis and Meleşcanu blamed the poor organization of the elections in the Diaspora. They claimed that hundreds of Romanians could not vote and asked the Central Electoral Bureau to extend the program.

Foreign Minister Titus Corlatean explained in a telephone intervention on Antena 3 what happened at the polling stations abroad.

"I would start with Paris. First of all, it serves you to know that in Paris, in 2009 there was only one polling station, with six stamps. In 2014, we doubled the polling stations, with 7 stamps each, ie 14. We took a step further and increased the number. If there was a problem in general in these regions they had to do with specific papers needed for voting abroad. That is not under MFA. These statements, including those on oath, through them we wanted to avoid the multiple vote like in 2009. BEC wanted to avoid any form of fraud occurred in 2009. In Spain the voting process, contrary to misinformation, ended correctly. They all ended the voting, except for Valencia, where 50 citizens were not able to vote. But all the rest voted. I gave a very clear explanation that there were things that were beyond my decision power, but under the decision of BEC ", Titus Corlatean said.

"In Germany the same occurred, the affluence has increased. They gave up filling in the affidavit outside the polling station. The same happened. There is a group of people protesting in front of the MFA , the Spiritual militia and agitators ", the Minister continued.

"There have been requests, some requests from some embassies, for the extension of the program. BEC decided and we took note of BEC’s decision. I want to say, however, that in UK we have increased the number of polling stations, from 8 to 11, in Moldova we increased the number from 13 to 21. We did take measures where we had indications that there may be more voters. I do not have the exact dates, although I kept in touch, the fact is that number of voters lessened, once the BEC decided that these declarations are to be completed freely and signed in the polling station " Titus Corlatean concluded.
