Traian Basescu was guiding the PMP leaders in the presidential campaign over the phone. He would encourage them not to succumb to attacks and to keep the line, Vice president of the PMP, Eugen Tomac reveals.

He says all leaders expect Traian Basescu to join the party, for the party to start a new phase.

But although Traian Băsecu is the one who founded the party and gave all the orders during this time, he argued on several occasions that he did not intend to run for the PMP leadership.
