Victor Ponta has asked his colleagues not to vote politically. The prime minister said that the Parliament must decide today if they still want the same system by which a government is appointed and dismissed by parliament or if they want it to be dismissed by an action of another power.

The prime minister was asked if he was nervous before the vote in Parliament is given today. He replied: "I am always nervous before the Parliament". The session in which the MPs will vote for or against Ponta's prosecution has begun. There are 288 deputies attending.

Prime Minister Victor Ponta's fate is decided today in the Chamber of Deputies. MPs will decide whether to authorize the DNA’s request to initiation prosecutions on behalf of the prime minister for conflict of interest. Last night, Members of the Legal Committee of the Chamber gave a negative opinion to the prosecutors' request. 18 deputies voted "against" the DNA’s request, seven voted "for" and one abstention has also been recorded. The committee vote was criticized by Liberals who said the PSD is building a shield to protect its criminals.

Immediately after the vote, the Liberals accused the Social Democrats that they have failed to do their job. Instead, Prime Minister claims that the Liberals vote was a political one, dictated by the Heads of PNL. Victor Ponta went to the hearing without being accompanied by a lawyer by and he told his colleagues that political decisions cannot be censored by prosecutors.
The Standing Bureau of the Chamber of Deputies decided that the vote on the request for DNA initiation of prosecution of Victor Ponta should take place today at 10.00
