Prime Minister Victor Ponta said on Sunday, after the exit polls results announcement for the first round of presidential elections, that in 2009 they "stole" votes in the Diaspora and that there were queues at polling stations this elections round because they could not defraud.

"It was exactly the same number of polling stations as in 2009. Unlike 2009, through the measures taken by the state institutions, this time the voting is no longer defrauded. In 2009 they stole votes in the Diaspora. Now, you see, in Paris, if they do not fraud then there is a queue, " Ponta said, answering a question about the fact that many Romanians abroad could not vote and that the president, Traian Basescu, demanded the resignation of Foreign Minister Titus Corlatean.

The prime minister said that when the Social Democrats promised to change Romania compared to the Basescu era, they referred also to the fact that the votes of the Romanians in diaspora will not be defrauded as in 2009.

"Other than that, organizing polling stations belongs to and - everything about the organization - AEP and BEC decide and we (the government, ) only provide the conditions," Ponta said.
