Not only Romania considers it important to be strategic allies of the Unite states, but America feels the same, Ponta said Wednesday after the meeting with the US vice-president Joe Biden.

"His presence here (Joe Biden, editor’s note) and by an extended visit, the message was that Romania together with Poland are the pillars of the strategic partnership with the United States,"  Ponta said, live on Antena 3.

"Romania is important to us and we will have partners to rely on further (...).It is about pragmatism and the seriousness of relationships that do not depend on a man, but depend on how we all behave in this relationship " the Prime Minister added.

According to him, the U.S. Vice President, Joe Biden, "came to the right place at the right time."

Victor Ponta stated exclusively for  Antena 3, that we do have the White House support to eliminate the entry visas to the US for Romanian citizens.

Ponta affirmed that the final decision depended on a political game.

"We must use all the influence  and  the friends in the Congress too, especially on the Republican side, for the existence of both parties so that  Romania should also benefit from the same thing many European countries benefit, namely the exemption from the  visa system," Prime Minister Victor Ponta said.

Bulgaria, Cyprus, Croatia, Romania and Poland are the only EU countries whose citizens need visas to travel to the USA.
