PSD leader Victor Ponta said that he would resign from the post of president if Traian Basescu formed a majority coalition in parliament and therefore would have the right to be appointed Prime Minister, in which case the appointment decree would be signed by the Senate President.
"If Basescu led a coalition that had 50% of the Parliament, he would have the right to be prime minister, because this is how people voted, then I would say I resigned and the Senate President would come and appoint Basescu. I would resign because I am sure Basescu would be a very bad prime minister ", Ponta said.
He added that he, personally, if he wins the presidential elections, he would not appoint Traian Băsescu prime minister.
