President Traian Băsescu made an ironic statement Friday regarding the banking fraud case worth 85 million euros.
" We cannot say that there are not any bank loans in Romania. Yesterday too (Thursday - n.r.) we’ve had such an example, a failed one, true, but we did. DIICOT handled that one ” Basescu said quoted by Mediafax.
The DIICOT investigators have performed Thursday 48 searches in Bucharest and in three other counties, targeting a coordinated grouping under the influence of the Capital city business leaders. The businessmen allegedly had taken loans from two banks for35 companies with the support of seven bank directors. The damage amounts to 85 billion euros.
